Troubled steelmaker idles another two mills, chops 110 jobs

U.S. Steel Canada has shut down more than half of its Hamilton plant and slashed another 110 workers as the economic meltdown continues its assault on the steel industry.
Facing scarce demand from customers, the steelmaker added its bloom and bar mills to the list of facilities now on ice at the Burlington Street operation.
It has laid off an additional 40 salaried staff and 70 hourly employees. The latest cuts push the number of layoffs at the plant over 600, more than 35 per cent of U.S. Steel's Hamilton workforce.

Yea, man, this is getting horrible anymore. I have a strong feeling this is about to get much, much worse! It will be many years IF we can come out of this IMHO. We all had better hunker down and get ready for some seriously hard times I think...
