Angry Serbs Battle U.N. & Nato Forces In Kosovo

KOSOVSKA MITROVICA, Kosovo - Serb demonstrators attacked international peacekeepers with rocks, grenades and Molotov cocktails Monday, setting off the worst violence in Kosovo since it declared independence from Serbia last month.

The Serbs traded gunfire with U.N. and NATO forces in hours of clashes that wounded at least 63 U.N. and NATO forces and 70 protesters outside a U.N. courthouse.

The clashes began when the U.N. stormed the courthouse in the divided northern town of Kosovska Mitrovica just before dawn to pull out protesters who had occupied it for three days to protest Kosovo's independence.

WiseOne's Comments, Serbs, we American's (with brains and common sense) are with you. If the UN had troops blocking us off from taking Vermont back (if they seceded), I would be right there too. The union MUST be preserved. We understand Kosovo is a VERY Important part of Serbia and wish you luck in taking it back! I CONDEMN America, Germany, and the rest of the idiot nations who recognize Kosovo and repudiate it on behalf of MANY American's. Keep it up, do NOT back down and something will give...at least Russia is on your side...I respect your bravery and stance, Serbs!

Your analogy of Vermont does not take into account the vast ethnic differences of the region. Should the majority continue to be ruled by the minority?
When you state that "the union MUST be preserved" would that hold true for The Soviet Union as well?

Very touchy situation they have going on over there.. Not sure but I have read that "ethnic cleansing" is still occurring.. I am not there so I just don't know..

Well, maybe Vermont wasn't the GREATEST analogy, but what about Virginia with Norfolk and such? That would be unthinkable. Majority rule by minority means nothing at all when you look at the entire country. This is a VERY dangerous precedent in today's world. Now we'll have Chechnya, Tibet, Taiwan, the Kurds in Iraq, and more a more trying the same stuff...meaning more bloodshed and the like as Kosovo WILL embolden them. America was WRONG in what they did here. I mean, seriously, if Virginia or say California tried to break off from the Union...alllll hell would break loose and I would GUFFAW when Russia said, "ok we recognize them." It would be good enough for America for what it did here. Also, Serbia AND America are TOTALLY different from the satellite states of the Soviet Union.

well i won't pretend to know much about this one. but i do agree with Tibet. China unlawfully occupied Tibet in 1959 and refuses to leave.

I see what you mean about Tibet, Smurf. Now, Serbia is completely different. Why can't they work together...we ALL should look at the repercussions, worldwide, as well...Kosovo is setting a very dangerous example to the rest of the separatist movements about the world...I agree with Russia on this one man.
