Bug California prepares for first gay marriages

Quote:
SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - California begins marrying gay and lesbian couples on Monday afternoon in a step likely to challenge other states where laws define marriage as only between a man and a woman.

A state Supreme Court decision last month overturning a ban on gay marriage has already produced one major change: marriage licenses will no longer list bride and groom but rather Party A and Party B.

I am surprised this hasn't been a hot topic of discussion on this site.

All I can say is what a mess. Now they'll move to get divorced in other states, take that to court since there's no provision yet and so on etc. I don't mind what other people do but this is tearing down the core of the U.S. and it effects my kids and grandkids in more ways than I care to think about

If gays do have the opportunity to marry, they should also be given equal rights to divorce. Straight people marry and divorce all the time. Gays are people too, and are subject to also want to marry and divorce. I don't see why this is such a big deal... there are much more important issues in politics. Let gays get married and lets move on to a more important issue; like out of control government spending, or the dwindling social security fund.

Exclamation divorce rate

how does gay marriage affect you and your children and grand-children? you can't say it's because of divorce rate. the divorce rate in america was over 50% before gays were allowed to marry.

here's an idea, maybe the government shouldn't be allowed to regulate marriage at all seeing as it is a religious union between two people. there is supposed to be a separation of church and state after all. let the goverment deal with government issues and let religious organizations deal with religious issues.
