Bush: 'This Government Does Not Torture People'
10/5/07
Quote:
WASHINGTON — President Bush defended his administration's methods of detaining and questioning terrorism suspects on Friday, saying they are both successful and lawful.
"When we find somebody who may have information regarding a potential attack on America, you bet we're going to detain them, and you bet we're going to question them," he said during a hastily called appearance in the Oval Office. "The American people expect us to find out information, actionable intelligence so we can help protect them. That's our job."
Bush volunteered his thoughts on a report on two secret memos in 2005 that authorized extreme interrogation tactics against terror suspects. "This government does not torture people," the president said.
Meanwhile, the Democratic chair of the Senate Armed Services Committee demanded a copy of a third Justice Department memo justifying military interrogations of terror suspects held outside the United States.

Some people over here have no idea what torture really is in wartime.

Yea, that's true...wartime can bring about horrors from ANY end...just wait until Iran is hit and a major war starts...it will be some of us possibly getting tortured as well...I KNOW that is a lie what Bush said, without a doubt in my mind.

I wish there were an easier answer. I have to tell ya though, if there's someone they have captured and know for certain they know of the next attack over here, I really don't care what they do to them to get the information. That may sound harsh, but that one person is holding back a plan to kill many innocent people.

The problem with that thinking, beside the obvious, is that information gained by such means is unreliable at best...and there is evidence that people are being snatched...flown to secret locations and handed over to terrible things...for what?

It is so we can claim to have gotten reliable information. Even though it has been proven that information given during a torture session isn't really reliable.

Well, the fact is, the President has forced our our military into this. And it has given our Country a bad name. We should have never went to Iraq, and we shouldn't stay another day. Close down our secret prisons, and detention centers (concentration camps) and bring our soldiers home. Impeach the president and Vice. Prosecute Bush/Cheney, Wolfowitz, Perle, and all involved with the fake evidence and media push that convinced Americans that going to Iraq was the "right thing to do."
And then apoligize to the world for being stupid enough to allow Bush to orcastrate these "un-goddly" acts on man kind. Tell them that we have seen the error of our ways, and promice it would never let it happen again.
(My dad use to tell me, that If a man apologizes for what "HE" did wrong, then he is more of a man.)
Then we can start to being friends with foreign nations in a humble way. In a way that will acheive respect. Not demand it. Secure our borders, secure our finances in the global markets by regaining our lead in the industrial markets.
And basically get this country back to where it was before the Military Industrial complex, Big Oil, and other coorperations took control of our government.
"We the People" should mean what it was intended to mean.
