For Libertarians

Someone approached me about helping start up a Libertarian Organization on campus as a catalyst to help gain momentum for an upcoming Libertarian organization where I live. I've planned to use facebook and the campus newspaper to find people interested in helping out, but that only helps find supporters who already KNOW they are libertarians. I'm trying to brainstorm ideas for an easy way to help people figure out if they are libertarians. I already know of the worlds smallest political quiz... and I've been thinking of handing that out... but does anyone have any other ideas that would help? Anyone had any success in helping other people figure out they were a libertarian?

Thanks!

Persuasion? Conservative Party
I know this is an old post, I am a registered Repub. but the last two elections I have voted the Conservative line, though it did not make alot of differance because both party's endorsed the same candidates, I agree with a lot of what the Libertarian party espouses but I get the feeling the party organizers are as confused as the rest of them, at least they have not got big enough to be corrupt yet and what is it with the promise to refuse to use force to overturn the gov't, I take it they disagree with our founding fathers

Its not that the party organizers are confused, its just those that are registered as libertarian voters vary wildly as to what they believe. Its really difficult to find someone that believe in all the party line because most of the people that claim to be "libertarian" are really just unhappy with their current affiliated party and are looking for a new party to gain direction (And Libertarians use this as a recruiting tool!). I call them migrant libertarians although that is not the true term for them. Democrats flock to the Libertarian Party when wars are fought and military spending increases. They support social initiatives by government and some support nationalized health care which is a FAR cry from the true spirit of the Libertarian Party. Republicans flock to the Libertarian Party when they are currently unhappy with the growth of big government and the increased level of social spending on health care. They support the idea of the military and support wars for good purposes overseas which again isn't in line with the party ideals. The only thing everyone seems to agree upon is that pot should be legalized and that isn't really a good, solid foundation to unify overall support.

Its hard to sell the libertarian party... true libertarians want to take away public education, the Fed, fighting wars overseas, social security, medicare, medicaid, and cut out a lot of government programs that take away a lot of government jobs. And as I've said before... not all of these migrant libertarians agree on these things. I love the growing momentum of the Libertarian party but the growth of these migrant libertarians are diluting the power of the party by having such diverse beliefs. I almost wish some would instead register as Independents because that is really what these migrant libertarians are.
