So what are some legitimate ideas to combat the two-party system that has a strangle hold over this country?

I'm not certain there is even a legitimate idea to combat it. If an independent comes up, both parties attack them. I do believe that the only solution will be an eventual 2nd tea party. Call me crazy, but I don't think it's that far off. There is way too much perverse corruption in our elected employees, and they are too stupid, for the most part, to see what's coming. They are supposed to work for us and they work for themselves and it is high time to take that back! We have a lot of rich idiots working for us that only agree with us about 10% of the time. They even get to vote themselves a fricking raise, how does that work!
