Defense Secretary Gates Says Air Force Must Step Up Efforts in Iraq

WASHINGTON — Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Monday the Air Force is not doing enough to help in the Iraq and Afghanistan war effort, complaining that some military leaders are "stuck in old ways of doing business."

Gates complained in a speech at Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala., that getting the Air Force to send more surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft to Iraq and Afghanistan has been "like pulling teeth."

The Pentagon chief praised the Air Force for its overall contributions but made a point of urging it to do more and to undertake more creative ways of thinking about helping the war effort....

jam's Comment: Here is the main problem:

Everybody knows that the U.S. Air Force (USAF) does all the damage in modern day warfare with 'the help' of the wannabe USAF types, called the U.S. Navy (USN)! The USN stays hundred's of miles out in the ocean out of harms way; while, the USAF has to build and maintain bases on hostile territory!! The U.S. Army and Marines are required just to go in a 'mop up,' and maintain security of the 'gained territory.

Now it has been proven over and over (Desert Storm and the later Iraq invasion) that the air attack is the most effective in causing the most destruction (and can be done relatively 'surgically') with limited loss of U.S. lives. Where we get into trouble is trying to occupy hostile territory, not knowing who the enemy is from the civilians!!

So, I say that the original attack plan of 'shock & awe' was incomplete!! It should have been 'Shock, Awe, and Level!' This was the strategy that God commanded the Israelites when they went in to take the Promised Land. He 'commanded' them to kill all men, women, children, and even livestock as they took a city! First of all, leaving the children alive would just delay the inevitable of them growing up and returning to take back their land with revenge. Leaving the woman alive would allow them to inter-marry with the conquering Israelis, and influence them into following their customs and false gods, as did indeed happen! Many let the foreign, pagan women live as their wives and the Israelis ended up, not only keep their false idols, but worshipped them too to appease their wives!
God saw and ended up punishing Israel for not following His commands, and gave them over to their enemies as slaves.

So here is the strategy that shud be used in the future, and would work fine with Iran:

First, notify the population of an impending attack with air-launched fliers and brochures. Again, just the air forces are reqd to do this. Then, using just air power with maybe some long-range armor along the border, launch surgical attacks on the military infrastructures and nuclear facilities. Again, remind the population thru radio, satellite, fliers, etc, about the final attack that will involve them shud they stay in the country. By removing 'friendly civilians,' then the enemy military cannot hide behind them!! Provide a neighboring refugee country, such as Afghanistan, to setup camps for those who would leave. Again, refugee camps allow the U.S. to localize, register, and control the population. Here is where the Army and Marines can 'do their thing'--- pretty much what they are doing now in Iraq, but are now doing in an impossible environment to control!! After sufficient time for final evacuation (2-3 weeks), launch an all out air warfare on the country and level it! May take months (?). Then develop the country's resources at a later date to initiate payment for the war (as is Germany still doing for WWII) and aid in rebuilding for the returning refugees.

NOTE: Since a portion of the population (such as in Iran) are U.S. friendly, we will not do the Biblical genocide. The refugee population will be reqd to take an oath of allegiance to the World Community and dis-avow their former dictatorship govmts---if not, start building prisons and try them as hostile terrorists... This is more humane that what was done by the Allied Forces in Germany during WWII (leveling cities with civilians still in them!) and the 2 Atomic Bombs dropped on the Japanese civilian populations.

And, finally, the number of U.S. lives lost will be minimal compared to the past 5 years of Iraq occupation.

If there were more people like you around the world would dissapear into a big mushroom cloud. Your ideas of indiscriminate slaughter of innocent people are just plain evil. Your use of scripture to back up your evil is even worse. The Boers used the exact same scriptures to justify murdering and comitting genocide against a people in order to take their country away from them. Where are the Boers today? Thankfully their gone just like you and your ilk will be if there is to be any future.
