You know what's going to kill America? So here's a fun fact. In 2004, only 64% of eligible voters in this country actually cast a ballot. Golly, that sounds like an awful lot, doesn't it? Seeing as how it was the highest turnout since 1992 (according to [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Political Forum Link. )? Bullsh*t. It's not a lot. It's just over half. That's reprehensible at best, and disgusting at worst. This is supposed to be a democratic nation; land of the free, home of the brave, blah blah blah. Where are people's hearts? You want to know what's going to kill America? AMERICANS. We can't even be bothered to get off our couches, put down the X-Box control for a half-hour, and go decide who runs the country. Frankly, if that's how we treat our "freedom" we don't deserve what we have left of it. Look at this. We need celebrities and musicians to convince us -- CONVINCE US -- to go vote. [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Political Forum Link. It's actually more important to the entertainment industry -- people who make more money than you or I will likely ever see -- that we defend our right to choose. That's really pathetic, America. Really. Disagree? Prove me wrong then. Quit complaining and go vote. You got a week to decide on your chosen candidate, if you haven't done it already.

loved your thing about people not voting but the sad mute point is that we as Americans don't honestly in reality vote the President into office. We only hold the popular vote. Whoopeee!!! The electoral college is who in reality puts who they want into office. All we are is the pep squad going "rah rah for Obama". Whatever..... I didn't vote for him, thank god.

I gotta agree with ya man, why go vote when you got Xbox live? I've been sayin sayin for years that people don't really care...So long as they get the next episode of Survivor, or the newest iPod....really sad.....good to hear I'm not the only one who feels this way though....when it all comes crashing down at least people like us can say "I told ya so!!!"

In a Democratic Society, the people's vote does not count. Learn your history people. The only time it counts is when it's a local town election or maybe the Mayor of New York if you're lucky. Republics are ruled for the people by the people. In a Democracy, (AKA Socialist form of government), The ones in office make the rules regardless of the peoples wants or needs. The Electoral College actually elects the President. The people only get the popular vote and that means nothing. Why vote when you really have no say. Get your head out of the sand. You're drowning in the Bull____!!!! They definitely got you guys blind sided. Even the elect will be deceived. What a perfect phrase for today's society. You all cannot see what is right in front of you. That's funny. It's official, the dumbing down of America is almost complete. Oh and another thing, this country was built as a Republic for which it stands, one nation under god. It didn't say, for the Democracy, for which it stands, one nation under Obama.

Ok, we may elect the electors, but we don't elect the president. No, not trying to be a b__, just trying to state the obvious. You know as well as I do how corrupt the political system is. Seats are won more by money and influence than people's votes and you know that.

The system is designed to give the majority what it wants, to pick a candidate that is a reflection of society. It works it that sense. The same corruption, dedication to selfish indugencies and lack of responsibility we see in corporations and our communties we see in politics. Levels of irresponsible governnment have always existed but looking at the past decades it seems that lately responsibility is a word no one in politics understands. But then again no one in society understands it either.

Majority Our system has been distorted from "majority rule" to "vocal minority rule". If you don't vote you can't complain.
