Prisoners re-enter society

Hi everyone, I think that every person has his right to live in a society no matter even if he was a prisoner in his early life. Most of the prisoners are racial or ethnic minorities and have difficulty in re-entering the society as they are faced with poverty and this leads to crime for which they are re-arrested are convicted and re-incarcerated and this adds a burden on the government in respect of tax-payers. What are your views on this?

Yea, that is a serious problem. If the prisoner had felonies, a LOT of company's will not hire them...so, how can they get a start again? It's basically a lose-lose when they get out. OR, they can only get really crappy jobs for the rest of their life...I think that's what makes a lot of them go back...easier to have 3 meals a day and a place to sleep on the taxpayer dime rather than having to struggle so much. I think there should be some changes to the system. How though?

Not sure how, either. Yes some crimes are so heinous i don't believe people should be paroled or forgiven. Others tho....have done their time. if released then why should we keep punishing them?????

I went through school in 96-99 for a degree in counseling in the SAFPF (substance abuse prison facilities )prisons in Texas. They were special prisons for most felonys done under the influemce of alcohol and/or drugs. The redivism rate dropped considerably with these facilities in place. They had intense counseling sessions, dealing with life on the outside and therapuetic re-entry classes where the ones released stayed in a half way house until they were working and productive. Some ########## decided they cost the state too much and cut the facilities down to a meagor few left. I've had a few who went through the system in my classes over the past few years and they all have nothing but good to say about them, and are grateful for them. They saved their lives and and are productive members of society.

No words can begin to describe how angry I've been over all the facilities that have been closed

Just another change along with all the rest of the insanity happening.................

I'm off to help a friend have a good day !
