USA Military Service & 'Esprit de Corp'

Spirit of the Corp, Marines call it Semper FI. The military, via basic training (tearing the individual down and building him back into a team member) and the buddy system ('keeping' each other's back), reinforces the cohesive, synergy of a group so that they all have 1 mind and 1 purpose. That overall purpose (or 'mission'), war or peace time, is to serve and defend this country. The relationships formed during that period of service usually end up being some of the best, and many times most enduring, of a serviceman thru out his/her life.

A man 2000 yrs ago said, "Greater love has no man than to lay down his life for a friend." He 'voluntarily' did just that. Part of being in the military during war time, altho not necessarily on the front lines in active battle, is that all prepare themselves for that sacrifice if need be for their buddy and their country. That's why America and the American flag mean so much to those who are & have served under it....
