Living paycheck to paycheck gets harder

Living paycheck to paycheck gets harder

Quote:
NEW YORK - The calculus of living paycheck to paycheck in America is getting harder.

What used to last four days might last half that long now. Pay the gas bill, but skip breakfast. Eat less for lunch so the kids can have a healthy dinner.
Across the nation, Americans are increasingly unable to stretch their dollars to the next payday as they juggle higher rent, food and energy bills. It's starting to affect middle-income working families as well as the poor, and has reached the point of affecting day-to-day calculations of merchants like Wal-Mart Stores Inc., 7-Eleven Inc. and Family Dollar Stores Inc.
Food pantries, which distribute foodstuffs to the needy, are reporting severe shortages and reduced government funding at the very time that they are seeing a surge of new people seeking their help.

But not factored into the living paycheck to paycheck equation is how many more things people consider to be necessities now. Health club memberships, car payments, satellite tv service, internet service, cell phones, etc. Most people consider those items to be necessities and complain that they are living paycheck to paycheck.

I agree, people think they NEED ten SUVs sitting in the front yard, etc.... Americans ARE spoiled and live above their means to be sure...I am NOT one of them as I am one cheap prick, LOL.

As long as you can afford it, then go for it. Just don't whine and complain that you can't put food on the table for your family.

Just remember, without porn, the internet would never have evolved the way that it did. Long live the internet, and long live porn.

I agree.
when my wife and i got together almost 17 years ago. neither one of us had a pot to piss in or a window to through it out of. we lived on only what we had to have and nothing more. hell i never even had a cell phone until i started my business. just didn't see where i really needed it. now day's if some people didn't have a cell they would just roll over and die.

No kidding. I HAVE slept on the streets before (I remember sleeping on the side of a freeway on a slope so steep that I had to hold onto the fence all night in order not to slide down the hill, LOL...wasn't a "good" sleep, but was sooo tired, had to) and lived in cockroach infested hellholes. Talk about being down! Some of us are tough and can handle what is coming...but MOST cannot and will try to TAKE from those who are smart enough to see this disaster coming. Look at this world!!! We are almost in World War III, the economy is just verging on a depression, the stock markets WILL crash...and people go out, buy new cars, new TVs, cell phones, and all kinds of crap that they don't "need" (my car has 119,000 miles on it, yet I don't want a new one). This sure is one greedy, spoiled society. It scares me to think when this depression comes what people will do really.
