Thumbs up Obama says Iraq war must end

Quote:
Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) is vowing to quickly end the war in Iraq and shift the focus of the war on terror to Afghanistan and Pakistan, declaring in an address to be delivered later today that the “single-minded and open-ended focus" on Iraq "distracts us from every threat that we face and so many opportunities we could seize.”

“This war diminishes our security, our standing in the world, our military, our economy, and the resources that we need to confront the challenges of the 21st century,” Obama says in excerpts released by his campaign. “By any measure, our single-minded and open-ended focus on Iraq is not a sound strategy for keeping America safe.”

WiseOne's Comments, I agree...it is TIME for Iraq to take care of ITSELF and PAY us back! We need to regroup and strengthen now for the coming war with Iran.

They Pay you?

How can you even justify that. The logic is You Broke it, You buy it and the fact that it was the United States who wrongly attacked a nation unrelated to the current crisis should not be payed by the people of Iraq. Heck, with the civillian death toll, they already paid too much.

Never forget that Senator Obama also stated that we should attack Pakistan, who is an ally in our war against terror! He has voted multiple times also to not fund our troops! We didn't wrongly attack anything, Al Queda themselves admit that Iraq is the front on the war. Looking for a time frame is absolute lunacy and projecting to an enemy your game plans. beascott, 7 years is so bad? Do you have a family member there? I do, several actually! We've been in Germany and Japan for 64 years now! And 7 is so bad? Iraq is about to take care of itself and anyone who says we broke it needs to look into the eyes of the relatives of the people who were killed by the chemicals Saddam so loved! It's pretty easy to say what was what from an armchair over here. Oh yeah, what ever happened to the saying war for oil? It wasn't and we never took! How many imbeciles can this country take and survive!

There has been troops in Germany and Japan for a while, granted, but those two countries have not been conflict zones for a while, unlike Iraq.

The main problem is that the U.S government is going bankrupt (in both cash and political capital) and they know they cant keep it up.
