I've always been an advocate of replacing the idea of the electoral college with the popular vote because I've tried to think that uninformed Americans were the same group of people that were apathetic about elections. This election proved me terribly wrong.

If people had known more solid facts about each candidate's economic policies I think McCain would have won the election by a landslide. I think people get so caught up in the idea of middle class tax cuts and tax increases for the "rich" that they don't actually understand what the policies actually MEAN for America.

This is what I think the Obama presidency means for America:

I think Obama is going to continue to spend America further into a deficit that will propel us further into a recession (these useless economic stimulus packages that only work in the short run and make us WORSE off in the long run) and we'll see inflation occurring at staggering rates. Unemployment rates will increase again as the next phase to increase the minimum wage occurs. The one class of Americans that could buy stock to lessen the effects of an impending recession, the "rich" will be increasingly taxed to the point where they could not buy stock. Actually, they will probably remove money from the stock market causing another drop in the stocks.

The FED, poor Ben Bernake, will continue to decrease the money supply which will have deflation occur, making our money inflated, and worth much less. Bernake wrote a paper on deflation and will actually be the Fed Chairman to cause it in our economy knowing that in he decreases the money supply, like he should, it would further spiral America into a depression with the world following.

People are ignorant and stupid and blame the increasing minimum wages on Republicans and the Bush Administration when really Democratic policies and Obama as president will set the stage for a depression. By no means am I an advocate of Bill Clinton, but at least he had enough sense to PAY back the deficit. What happened to the days when Democrats were the guys and gals who know economics and what to do to practice good economic harmony? Hopefully Obama will choose a good economic adviser who will not allow him to lobby another Economic Stimulus Package or Economic Bail Out Bill in Congress.

I think the Economic Stimulus Packages and Economic Bail Out Bills in Congress are stupid because they are only short term solutions that make our overall economic problems worse in the long run. To fix the economy we must petition congress to

1. stop pork barrel legislation
2. stop passing entitlement programs
3. actually follow recommendations from GAO
4. commission GAO to find the most inefficent programs, cut them, and redirect the left over funds from those programs to pay off the deficit
5. stay on budget
6. do not pass laws to restrict businesses except (7)
7. ban mark to market accounting

We must petition the Supreme Court to
1. declare mass bail out bills unconstitutional
2. declare governmental buying of businesses illegal

Will this economic catastrophic happen shortly after the inauguration of Obama? No. It will happen shortly after the honeymoon period of his presidency is over if he chooses a bad economic policy adviser.

A forum is about sharing, comparing and opposing ideas. Yet, there is a thread that seems repetitive on the Web.

This thread, is the one of the aggressive Conservative who seems to believe that he is right in all things and, as a result, can say anything (disgarding even basic ethiquette).

I have a perfect exemple of this where a member of this forum seems to project so hard it is funny.

Quote:

 metermaidbf1
Let's hear a debate in reality Antiochus, since you haven't lived long enough to know about reality!

Quote:

 metermaidbf1
Trust me, you can forget any semblance of reality as you now know it if that is what you want, and also trust me, if that is what you want I will hunt you down and eradicate you if you are trying to kill America.

Now, as I know some psychiatrist who was nice enough to check this one out, lets hear a little analisis.

1) Openly rejecting your opponent based on his age is a textbook sign of total lack of confidence. Its about looking for a disqualification line that isnt there to gain points. This tactics is usually dropped when the person reach a more mature state at the end of childhood.

2) Using the words '' Trust me'' twice in the same sentence is usually another sign of lack of confidence.

3) Threats of violence is either a sign of lack of maturity, paranoļa or lack of self control.

Those traits are common on forums are in the Public life. It is very ironic that those actions show a psychological pattern mostly found in childrens. But it is true that it is stopping the dialog to evolve in anything else than something completly static. Im not saying that all conservatives are like that. But it is clear that this way of interacting is actually hurting their cause.

just for kicks, here is the basic rule of this forum:
Welcome to our political forum! We tolerate ANY political ideology here. Keep it clean and you can say what you want! We don't care if you are a liberal, conservative, communist, socialist...you can say what you think. Beware, politics can get hot! This is NOT a place for children.

This financial crisis comes at the worst of times. The 8 years of Republican control have brought a clear deterioration of the government finances that places the United States into a position of weakness as the markets of Wall Street crumble.

When George W.Bush became president, in 2000, he inherited a solid economy, with a surplus of 236 billion dollars. Sadly, declarations of wars followed by tax cuts that have quickly turned these surplus into deficits.

It is clear that the Bush administration did not understand why the older conservative movements (as opposed to the neo-cons) were against foreign intervention. It is because lower tax rates means less money in the state's chests and it is nearly impossible to cut tax while waging wars.

As the tax cuts crippled the economical balance of the government. The profit from the income tax passed from 1004 billions a year in 2000 to 800 billions in 2004 while the government spendings had a raise of 60% (96% for the military expences).

This economical year ended yesterday, the 30th of september 2008. We do not know yet the full extent of the losses, but we do know that for the first eleven months of the year, the government has seen a deficit of 486 billions.

Obama recently has proposed a Tax raise, however, these taxes will be put toward much needed services for our country. On the other hand, McCain will tax us and continue to support big businesses rather than contribute to the serious issues in our soceity. What we need as a Country is to improve our needed services before supporting big businesses with our very valuable, hard earned tax dollars. Take a stand for what you truly believe in and don't forget to vote!

The Problem with Obama

I confess that I'm a Blue Dog Democrat. I always vote the Party not the candidate and this election cycle will be no different, it never is . The only problem is that I don't really care for OBama. He seems to me to be a stuck up if you know what I mean. But what are you going to do when there isnt anyone else. You hold your nose and do your duty. Mr. Harvard smart guy decided that he didnt need Hilary that he was Mr. Bigstuff all by himself. So he picks Joe Biden.

A guy i do like but much too intelligent for my countymen. Hey, Joe is way over most peoples heads. He knows his #### pretty well, the problem is most people just dont get it. It's not his fault, he means well, but he isn't helping the cause much.

So just why are these polls so tight? I'm gonna tell you why even if you don't want to hear it.

It's the same damn story every time. The Dems feel that politics has gotten way too dirty, that our candidate needs to stay above the slime. That a good clean fight is our only way to victory. Ask Al Gore why he didn't bury Bush with the DUI thing. Ask Kerry why he wouldn't get into the swift boat ? You wanna know why ?. Its because these candidates didn't want to be seen as pricks. These candidate didn't know that when your in a street fight, its quite allright to kick and bite. The American public knows that a clean fight is honorable but quite boring but a dirty fight is exciting and takes testosterone to win. The American public wants a leader that dosen't take #### from anyone. Much less from the PTA and the Dinosaur club.

What can Obama do? How about a little offense.

1) Lets mention in passing that if Sarah wasn't out shooting Polar Bears and playing politics, she might have been a more effective chaperone. The greatest thing a parent can do for her childen is to be there.

2) Vote for Sarah and lose control of your own body.

3) Vote for McCain. You don't need your job anyway.

4) If your losing your home its because you just don' wanna work.

5) If your not sick then why you worrying about heathcare.

6) Lets build some ovens next to the fence to deter immigration.

7) What heathplan does Sarah have? Hers or her commercial fisherman husband?

8) John McCain loves war.

9) You balance your checkbook why don't you want to balance the budget.

10) Lets give Sarah Palin a nickname. Sarah "Pink Slip" Palin.

11) If elected ,John McCain would give Ohio, PA, MI increased Unemployment benefits.

I could go on and on lolol.

Palin has shown NO concern, knowledge of, or plain intellilect regarding our failed and still failing economy. Why? She is a separatist! She is a poster woman for BIG MOUTH, egotistical, Left-wing White-Anglo-Saxon's. This woman has no culture in her life, has only to obtain a U.S. passport for the 1st time in the past 2 years. And you want me to trust her delegating on behalf of the U.S. I don't think so.
She Promotes and condones teenage sex in the home.(yeah that's a true qualification VP of U.S.) She is also a part of a branch dividian style non-denominational church..that praises the destruction of JEWS by its Spiritual Leader saying its GOD's Will. This is very concerning and racist!. As her religious teachings seem white-supremecist!
We must not sway from the focus. As the GOP will pull stunts to trip themselves. This is about US! the people of this country saying "ENUFFFFFFFFFF!" Your fired GOP!

> > A most interesting and foreboding
> > letter.
> >
> > From
> > Richmond Times-Dispatch, Monday, July 7, 2008 ~
> >
> >
> > Dear Editor,
> > Times-Dispatch:
> >
> > 'Each year I get to celebrate Independence
> > Day twice. On June 30 I celebrate my independence
> > day, and on July
> > 4 I celebrate America's. This year is special,
> > because it marks the
> > 40th anniversary of my independence.
> >
> > 'On June 30, 1968, I escaped Communist Cuba, and a few
> > months later, I was in the United States to stay.
> > That I happened to arrive in
> > Richmond on Thanksgiving Day is just part of the
> > story,
> > but I digress.
> >
> > 'I've thought a lot about the anniversary
> > this year. The election-year rhetoric has made me
> > think a lot about
> > Cuba and what transpired there. In the late
> > 1950s, most Cubans thought Cuba needed a change, and
> > they were right. So
> > when a young leader came along, every Cuban was at
> > least receptive.
> >
> >
> > 'When the young leader spoke eloquently and
> > passionately and
> > denounced the old system, the press fell in love with
> > him. They
> > never questioned who his friends were or what he
> > really believed in.
> > When he said he would help the farmers and the poor
> > and bring free medical
> > care and education to all, everyone followed. When
> > he said he would
> > bring justice and equality to all, everyone said,
> > 'Praise the Lord.' And
> > when the young leader said, 'I will be for change
> > and I'll bring you
> > change,' everyone yelled, 'Viva Fidel!'
> >
> > 'But nobody asked
> > about the change, so by the time the
> > executioner's guns went silent, the
> > people's guns had been taken away. By the time
> > everyone was equal,
> > they were equally poor, hungry, and oppressed. By
> > the time everyone
> > received their free education, it was worth nothing.
> > By the time the press
> > noticed, it was too late, because they were now
> > working for him. By
> > the time the change was finally implemented, Cuba had
> > been knocked down a couple of notches to
> > Third-World status. By the time the change was over,
> > more than a
> > million people had taken to boats, rafts, and inner
> > tubes. You can
> > call those who made it ashore anywhere else in the
> > world the most
> > fortunate Cubans. And now I'm back to the
> > beginning of my story.
> >
> >
> > 'Luckily, we would never fall in America for a young
> > leader who promised
> > change without asking, what change? How will you
> > carry it out?
> > What will it cost America?
> >
> > 'Would we?'
> >
> > Manuel
> > Alvarez,
> > Jr.

The American public is not only lazy, and selfish, generally speaking, but, they are indeed uninformed. I don't know how many people I've talked to that aren't aware of Barak Obama's muslim background, his wife's disdain for this country. Even fewer seem o be aware of Obama's tie's with the terrorist Ayers, or the anti-American mouthpiece, "reverend" Wright. His complete inexperience and inadequate judgement, aside. He is completely unfit to be a US senator, nevermind, President. My opinion, (facts included), aside, it would be nice if we as a people would get off of our collective lazy butts and do a little research on our own; research all of the media, tv, paper, and internet, and to just short of either extreme, ( afterall, they are irrelevant boneheads). Its not just improtant to vote, but to vote responsibly. If you insist on voting for someone like Obama, at least be responsible enough to know what you're voting for.....By the way, it would be nice if the media could pursue candidates stances on the issues and pull themselves out of their sewer for once! God bless all of you Americans; conservative, liberal, and the undecisive. GO VOTE!
